I landed a job working as script editor for independent film company ESP in Beverly Hills in the early '80s and have happily worked as a writer and editor ever since. With a BA in Creative Writing from the University of California and an MFA from the University of Montana's renowned creative writing programme, today I am a full-time working screenwriter and script doctor, writing screenplays on commission and regularly providing coverage and script-consultancy services for producers in Ireland and throughout Europe.
I have also written and directed several award-winning shorts including Kate's Ghost - 3rd Place at Beijing Youth Film Festival, 2015; Percent-for-Art commission There's Something about Shinrone, 2012; and Barretstown promotional video voiced by Liam Neeson and winner of Silver Worldmedal at New York Festivals, 1998.
A teacher and writing professional with wide-ranging experience, I was Managing Editor of Final Draft Magazine for professional and aspiring writers, and I have lectured in creative writing at Stonehill College, Salem State College, and community colleges in Massachusettts, and at the University of Montana, as well as teaching courses and seminars in business writing, drama and screenwriting in Ireland. My speech and script writing experience includes projects for Paul Newman, Liam Neeson, Peter O’Toole, Kenneth Branagh and Meryll Streep.
